Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency is a web site that hosts videos and commentaries analysing portrayals gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are depicted in pop culture. She's committed to removing stereotypes of women as they are depicted in pop culture. In addition she has a mission to increase the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in social and political thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she is highly sought after and has spoken at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was founded on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian, a University student who has been involved in topics concerning gender and feminism for a lengthy period of. The site was created by a woman in her early 20s determined to make a series of web videos that would examine gender representations in video games. However, she became the victim of online harassment. She was not deterred from the attack, and in fact it only reinforced her desire to become feminist and media critic.
